Beat Generation Poem

A poem I wrote about a person receiving a DUI after

being pulled over by a cop. We learning about the

beat generation in English 3/4 .

A Stained Soul

I have just realized that my foolishness is my own wrong doing,

There is no other to blame.

Hush money,  nothing or nobody to bail me out,

my stupidity and judgment spread over on there papers in black ink

Why a DUI, I recoup what I can.

Nothing to wager or convince to the officer,

that will change his mind.

Nothing to calm myself down or wipe away my tears.

A suspended licence, all I have to offer

in this game of justice.

I promise it will not happen again, I swear.

My immediate head, my foolish mind

how can I make a move so repulsive even to myself.

As my back slithers down the cold rough cement walls. Surrounded by chilling metal.

Stepping more and more away from others.

We hope, I hope between the lines there is a silver lining at the end of my move.

Rocket Project

A group project my team and I accomplished

near the end of the freshmen year in physics class.

Write bellow are questions my team and I answered

in preparing the project.
1.     Newton's Third Law of Motion acts with the rocket launching because the motion of the rocket is pushed off by  equal amount of force and creates a reaction to the rocket. The rocket action pushes down on the ground with the force of the rocket's engine. The reaction is the rocket getting pushed off the ground by force to lift off.

2.    There would be difficulties with the  amount of air resistance for the rocket, such as the nose cone, mass of the rocket, color, speed, and  number of fins. These could affect the air resistance by not having the rocket actually launch into the air or it may go into a direction that could injure someone.  Also if the nose cone did not come off then the whole rocket  and was not attached to the rocket , the rocket would get smashed onto the ground and break. The engine could also tip over the rocket if it is not put correctly into place and hurt or  burn someone. These are all thing that could affect the air resistance or injure someone.

3.     I believe my partner and I constructed our Rocket very well.  The best part of our rocket it the body because everything fits perfectly inside the body and nothing will break off or fall off. Some problems that may though not let the rocket work are  the fins. Because how they were sanded might  affect the rocket and also it might not be evenly straight when we glued them on the body. Some thing that I would have done instead would have different would be different shaped fins, and a smaller body rocket.

4.    I believe for safety point my partner and I did 20/20 because we  followed all the rules and we didn't mess around with anything for our rocket that would cause it not to work. Furthermore I believe the participation we got 15/15 because there was not one single time that my partner and I didn't miss a part for putting together the rocket. We also didn't fool around or go off track when we were told something to do that was important. I found this project to be fun and a great project to end the school year with. I found this project to be easy but some parts were time consuming such as waiting for the fins to dry, but other than that i enjoyed it.

Close Reading Log : Revolutionary Letter # 1

Written below is a reflection about

Diana Di Primas, Revolutionary Letter # 1.

from English 3/4.

In Revolutionary Letter # 1, Diane Di Prima conveys a message with figurative language of doubt and grief about a poker game that will soon  be realized  as a mistake to play. The scheme of this  game has twisted its fingers through the pockets of all players who are bound by the hallucination of the ball landing on that lucky number. The cost will be a dreadful pay in the end.

Diane Di Prima has “ just realized that the stakes are myself,” (1) as the opening line in her poem Revolutionary Letter # 1. This opening  is different from other poems and or essays as a class we have read. I find the opening brings mystery and questions in mind when she uses words such as, “stakes”, and “ myself.” As if, “ no other” (2) maybe going through what Prima is at the “ roulette table,”( 5). She cannot wave “ no white flag[s],” (7) or choose another number, for she must face the consequence of what maybe a  lost at the table. To  understand her      “ immediate head,” (9) she can  only make moves that won’t cost a higher paying with the elusive idea of all winnings. Everyone may feel lucky in the beginning of any game, but realizing the “ stakes” of the game may be stronger than what we can give into.

For her “ to make the play,” (8)  Prima must understand the stakes are high and the coast is dreadful. To make her play she states, “ I recoup what I can,” (5), meaning Prima needs to gather her thought with an immediate head as she once did in the starting of the game with also  realizing what she can offer to bring at the table. To, “ come up with [a] move, (9), there is a fine line she needed to read, “ between the lines” (11) than may come with the pricey coast of the game. We find her stating in the poem, “ this flesh all I have to offer,” meaning there is no play at the roulette table or board that she can earn her winnings. Her,” spirit [may be] measured out, in bits, spread over,” (4) with the lucky numbers at the table, but what are the real chances of winning with lust that one small ball  will land on her number and not all the other numbers? The schemes are highly noted in all poker games with a low chance of winning money, but we seem to always come back for more. As if we had bottomless pits of pockets filled with a balanced measured to our satisfaction, with these games of hallucination on our mind. Because everyone is lucky, right?
